Discover pastel paintings for sale. My pastel paintings sit at the intersection of observation, memory, and abstraction, forming a natural dialogue with my oil landscapes and abstract work. While the subject often begins in the visible world, the intent is never purely descriptive. Instead, I’m interested in how a place is felt, remembered, and subtly transformed through time. Pastel’s immediacy allows me to work directly with pure pigment, placing, softening, breaking, and layering marks through touch. The resulting surfaces balance structure with vulnerability. As in my abstract work, restraint and reduction play an essential role—what is left unresolved is as important as what is defined.
Across all mediums, my focus remains consistent: distilling experience to its essential elements. Light, atmosphere, and rhythm guide the composition, whether responding to a landscape, a remembered moment, or an internal sense of movement. These pastel works share the same underlying concerns as my oils and abstracts—attention, presence, and the quiet tension between control and release.
Discover original oil paintings for sale. My oil paintings are grounded in direct engagement with the landscape, often beginning outdoors and completed through reflection and refinement in the studio. While observation provides the starting point, the work is guided by sensation rather than strict representation—light, colour, and spatial rhythm take precedence over exact description. Oil paint supports a slower, more deliberate process, allowing for layering, revision, and subtle shifts in tone. This measured pace introduces a quiet tension between intention and response, echoing the balance of control and release that runs through my abstract work. Forms emerge, dissolve, and reassert themselves, shaped as much by restraint and editing as by accumulation.
